Sunday, April 25, 2010: Hocking Hills

Silence. I can hear the wind, that’s all. Peace. No planes overhead, no freeway noise, no sound of cars. Three and a half hours from home to find this kind of quiet.

As I write this, I am on the screen porch of our cottage at Hocking Hills. Other cabins are visible through the trees, but not obviously inhabited. The woods are fresh and green with spring, the understory gradually covering last fall’s leaves. We’ll walk later, just a short ways to take some pictures and enjoy the soft afternoon air. It's Always Something

Can't say that March was a fabulous month...

Zoo Layout

Although my favorite los tend to be more clean-lined, I love the art journaling look. Layout inspired by a Nature’s Sketchbook LO by Michelle Shefveland, pg 77, Somerset MEMORIES, February/March 2009 issue.

Journaling: Akron Zoo, April 10, 2010. Brilliant day, the animals were out and active - even the bats. Dodd Camera did a very enjoyable photography workshop. No better way to spend a Spring Saturday.

Sumatran Tigers at the Akron Zoo

What luck - great weather, perfect visibility, cooperative tigers!

This one is my favorite:

Tigers!

Lucky day! I went to a photography workshop at the Akron Zoo Saturday. Lovely spring day, bright and cool. And the vegetation in the enclosures hasn't grown in yet, so viewing was excellent. The tigers - all three - were in clear sight the entire time. I got some excellent shots, even through the glass. Used a 70 - 300mm lens, which prevented the camera from focusing on the glass. More later, since I have to get ready for work.

Easter Layout

Journaling from my Easter layout:
It was dog madness at Mom's on Easter. Tina and John brought Wookie, Gary and Marge brought Smoky and Kloe, and Marco put up with them all. No dogs got snacks from the dinner table -honest! Marco looks a little pensive, probably because dinner is over and the snacks are gone! Kloe wore Smoky and Marco out. I didn't get a pic of Wookie, but he looks a lot like Kloe, only whiter with a little bit longer hair. He and Kloe are best buds now. Kloe is eight months old, and fearless about attacking Smoky, who's about six times her size. Mom and Marco - Yeah, that's the hopeful snack face. Gary and Marge - cute couple! My Honey, enjoying the traditional post-Easter Dinner nap in Mom's recliner. April 4, 2010.
