Lights in the Darkness and a Shiny New Month

The last two photos from January's "A light in the Darkness" series. 1/30 & 31.

Odd looking iron contraption behind the Silk Mill in Kent. 2/1

February's theme is tools - these are colored markers.2/2

Crocuses, already three inches high. Hoping for an early spring. 2/3

For 2/4, I have lots of photos from Armstrong Bearcats at Kent's Water Street Tavern, will post later. My brother Gary found this vintage photography book for me. The technology has changed dramatically, but the theory hasn't. Thanks, Gary!! 2/5

All About Home

I found a large, pretty lantern at Pettiti's in Bainbridge on sale before the holidays. The candle is surrounded by shells - they complement the lantern's whitewash paint nicely. 1/23

One of my wreaths boxes hit the basement floor and exploded into a dozen pieces, which is why this wreath was still hanging in the kitchen. Silly me, no one has wreath boxes in late January. 1/24

Skipping the 25. We were supposed to have dinner with Chuck's sister, but they had an electrical fire at their house. A very bad night.

Woke him up again, for exactly two seconds, then back to kitty snores. 1/26

Hungry Howie's yummy ranch crust pizza! 1/27

Kent's black squirrels welcome me home, right next to the back door. 1/29

Online Classes, Candleglow, and Low Brow Dining

I took two online classes in January. One was Jessica Sprague's Digital Art Journaling, which I haven't finished yet, and the other was Kim Klassen's Skinny Mini photography texture class.  Some of the notes from the DAJ class, 1/16: Yes, Mom, I still work in a tragic mess! ;)

Fun with candle glow, Photoshop brushes from Jessica, and textures from Kim, 1/17:

On Tap is totally lowbrow dining, but it's decent, fast, and the dining room is quiet (because everyone is in the bar, yelling at whatever game's on TV!). Used Kim's Organic texture on this one. 1/18.

Mouse tracks in the snow just outside the garage door, 1/19.

Sootie, obviously deprived of...something. 1/20.

A Week of Light, Chuck, and Sootie

Sootie really doesn't like to have his nap disturbed for picture-taking. 1/9

Picture the Holiday's prompts were really helpful in December, so I decided to have a default prompt to help with P366 each month. So when I have subject brain freeze, there's always a little bit of inspiration. January's prompt - used for the next three shots - was "A light in the darkness". Used a Light room preset from Matt Kloskowski call "Gritty Effect" on the streetlamp. 1/10 - 12

Chuck, working on something. 1/13

One more waterfall photo from Viaduct Park. 1/14

Sun-dried tomato bread from Acme. Smells and tastes wonderful toasted and buttered. 1/15
