Wine and Hot Cars

Old cars are the best, and an old car show at a beautiful winery? Who could resist? Gervasi Vineyard has a cruise-in on Wednesday nights all summer long. The love lavished on these classic vintage automobiles is visible in every glossy painted curve and chrome highlight.

Someday I will remember to shoot the nameplate on every car, so I know what the detail shots belong to. Not today. Nice duck/quail, though. Maybe a Ford?

Austin-Healey, darned happy to see us. This one is kind of cute, although some car faces are more on the creepy side.

I'd love to show you a shot of this Auburn - it's a gorgeous car - but some guy with a tiny camera was apparently photographing every single dust spot on it and I couldn't get a shot around him.

Gervasi has some pretty little cottages on the grounds, surrounding a big pond.

Doublemint swans (sorry, couldn't resist), preening madly. From the looks of all the feathers on the ground, seems like they've already preened out an entire swan's worth.

More Changes, Some Good, Some Bad, Some Bittersweet

The last day of February, I said goodbye to my Honda. I tried to get it washed before turning it in, but it was a nice afternoon after weeks of rotten weather and all the car washes had lines a mile long. The Accord was a great car, reliable, safe and solid. It did have one quirk, though. It did not like to plow through snow. It liked to ride up over the snow until the drive wheel was off the ground. Can't tell you how many times that happened. You'd think the driver would have learned.

And this is my new car. Pearl white, light grey cloth interior, AWD. No more perching. Plenty of room for bags of mulch, suitcases and camera gear. More adventures ahead!

My room at the Cleveland Renaissance, sales meeting week. Very short meeting, long enough to announce the plant closing, followed by a subdued awards dinner at the Hard Rock in Tower City. Not that you'd got there for the food, but it was so-so at best.

 

 

Had a chance to shoot a little bit of Public Square while waiting for a colleague for the trip home. Same window I looked out a hundred years ago when I was with Avery. The view was pretty much the same, minus a few police cars.

 

 

The sun will come out tomorrow, tomorrow...

 

Shiny New Stuff

 

Finally decided to buy a new car - Subaru Forester. I will really miss the Honda, though. It still looks good even after almost 130,000 miles.

 

 

Going to Yosemite on a photo tour with some photographers from MPEG. I hope I can do it justice. Got a big package of maps and guidebooks from the Yosemite Conservancy, so I'll know exactly what it looks like before I get there. And I'm really looking forward to knowing what it feels like to be there.

 

 

Godiva and yellow roses for Valentine's day. The dark chocolate pretzels are the best!

 

Not feeling very chatty tonight. Work's just got me down. Wish I could wave a magic wand and make it better. But they've set their course and there's no going back.

 

Either that, or being completely caffeine-free doesn't agree with me.

This is a 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe from the Glenmoor Gathering in September. I blended a bunch of layers of the photo and Kim's Scripted Autumn texture, plus a little bit of a blended vignette.
